Azomethin-H-Monosodium Salt Hydrate
CAS206752-32-1
Azomethine-H monosodium salt hydrate (CAS 206752-32-1) is a water-soluble chromogenic reagent for the colorimetric determination of boron. In weakly acidic aqueous solution it forms a yellow-orange complex with borate, measured at about 415 nm, without the concentrated acid required by the curcumin method. KingPharm supplies Azomethine-H monosodium salt hydrate for research and production use with a batch-specific certificate of analysis.

Product Description
Azomethine-H monosodium salt hydrate is the sodium salt of the Schiff base formed from H-acid (8-amino-1-naphthol-3,6-disulfonic acid) and salicylaldehyde. It is an orange powder, soluble in water, ethanol and acetone, and is used mainly as a spectrophotometric reagent for trace boron.
In a buffered, weakly acidic medium, boric acid binds the hydroxyl groups of the reagent to form a colored complex whose absorbance near 415 nm is proportional to boron concentration. EDTA is usually added to the buffer to mask interfering ions such as copper, iron and aluminium.
Compared with the curcumin method, the azomethine-H method works in aqueous solution and avoids concentrated sulfuric acid and evaporation to dryness. This makes it simpler, faster and easier to automate for routine analysis of soil extracts, plant digests and water samples.
For purchasing, check assay, appearance, water solubility and absorbance of the reagent blank, as these affect calibration linearity and detection limit. KingPharm supplies each batch with a certificate of analysis; specification and other documents are available on request.
